Half-inch shaft fits the appropriate collet on the mill, or you can just chuck it into a Jacobs chuck (on the mill, lathe, or drill press) as you don't need absolute precision for most tapping, just center it on the hole within a few thousands or so and you're good, I think - once it's lined up, it makes it really easy to tap a nice straight hole. I use mine for pretty everything I need internal threads in.

I'm new to the world of lathes and found out that this thing exists and had to have one. Such a great tool for running taps on the lathe. I don't have any frame of reference for what the tool should act and feel like but I have no complaints about this one. It works well.

Works well. Also service was great, as my original order was not enclosed in the shipping box. Replacement was shipped to me with hours of my notification of the missing item.

Bought these to use in my mill to align and hold my tap wrench until the taps deep enough to hold itself.
